Pool Party Do’s and Don’ts
With COVID19 summer upon us, many people are opting for staycations and enjoying their own backyards. With some restrictions lifted, this could involve inviting some of your closest friends and family members for a dip in the pool followed up with some BBQ on the grill. If you are attending a party or if you are hosting one, there are some things you should consider.
Things You Should Know As A Pool Party Host
Impress your guests with some of these tips and tricks.
For starters, your pool cannot be the only source of entertainment. Always set up alternative activities for your guests to enjoy. A good game of bocci ball, badminton, volleyball, or cricket serve nicely as complementary yard games. Be sure to offer a shaded area for those that may need a break from the sun.
Designate someone to watch the swimmers. If you don’t have a lifeguard, have an adult keep an eye out. A host should be aware of the ratio of children to adults. It’s hard for one person to adequately keep an eye on ten kids.
Have plenty of beverages for your guests. At the minimum, have plenty of drinking water available. Swimming and sunshine can really drain energy and place your guests at risk for heatstroke. You should also consider having some light snacks or burgers and dogs on hand. Maybe include a sign-up sheet for guests to bring appetizers, a salad, and some side dishes.
Let People Know the Rules
If you’re hosting at your pool, let your guests know the rules in a fun and creative way. Post “pool rules” signs in a fun and decorative fashion, but still get the point across. Even though these rules are common sense, they can be easy to forget when you’re having fun. No matter how you display them, make sure to include these rules:
- No running
- No pushing
- No diving
- Never leave children unsupervised
- Use the restroom, not the pool
