How To POOL PARTY

Pool Party Do’s and Don’ts

With COVID19 summer upon us, many people are opting for staycations and enjoying their own backyards. With some restrictions lifted, this could involve inviting some of your closest friends and family members for a dip in the pool followed up with some BBQ on the grill. If you are attending a party or if you are hosting one, there are some things you should consider.

Things You Should Know As A Pool Party Host

Impress your guests with some of these tips and tricks.

For starters, your pool cannot be the only source of entertainment. Always set up alternative activities for your guests to enjoy. A good game of bocci ball, badminton, volleyball, or cricket serve nicely as complementary yard games. Be sure to offer a shaded area for those that may need a break from the sun.

Designate someone to watch the swimmers. If you don’t have a lifeguard, have an adult keep an eye out. A host should be aware of the ratio of children to adults. It’s hard for one person to adequately keep an eye on ten kids.

Have plenty of beverages for your guests. At the minimum, have plenty of drinking water available. Swimming and sunshine can really drain energy and place your guests at risk for heatstroke. You should also consider having some light snacks or burgers and dogs on hand. Maybe include a sign-up sheet for guests to bring appetizers, a salad, and some side dishes.

Let People Know the Rules

If you’re hosting at your pool, let your guests know the rules in a fun and creative way. Post “pool rules” signs in a fun and decorative fashion, but still get the point across. Even though these rules are common sense, they can be easy to forget when you’re having fun. No matter how you display them, make sure to include these rules:

  • No running
  • No pushing
  • No diving
  • Never leave children unsupervised
  • Use the restroom, not the pool

How To Be The Best Pool Party Attendee

If you and your family have been invited to pool parties this summer, make sure you put your best foot forward. There are a few tips that will ensure you make the perfect pool party guests.

Watch your kids and pets. First off, DO NOT Bring your pets without prior consent from the hosts. Do not let your pets or your children roam around unattended. Keep an eye on them. Watch your children and make sure they are behaving. This also helps ensure their safety.

Bring your swimming supplies. Be sure to bring your own towels and sunscreen. When you prepare to go to a pool party be sure you and the kids have everything you need. Provide your family member with their own bag. This will help you make sure each person’s belongings are where they need to be when they need them.

Follow common poolside rules. There should be no roughhousing and be mindful of those around you. Just remember to be courteous.

When everyone follows the basic rules and etiquette a pool party will run smoothly and leave you with lasting memories.
