It is that time of year again! Gone are the days of staring at the frost on your pool cover while longing for carefree summer days.

Returning are those lazy afternoons lounging poolside or atop your pool on your favorite floatation device while sipping a cool and refreshing beverage.

Before you are able to dive into your pool, you will want to start by cleaning and treating your pool before that first big splash!

First and foremost, conduct an inventory of your chemical supplies.

You’ll want to have all of your chemicals ready to go before you start opening your pool. Check the expiration dates on all of your chemicals and replace any that are past their prime.

Clean off the pool cover using a pump or shop vac. Be sure to thoroughly clean it with cleaning chemicals, rinse, dry and then store in a safe place where the sun and other environmental hazards can get to it.

Once the pool is uncovered, you will want to inspect the pool equipment and clear out any build up or debris from the fall and winter seasons and then test your pump, skimmer basket and filter for functionality.

Once you have cleaned debris from inside and around the pool, inspect and test your pump, baskets, and filter, it is time to start adding water. NALA Industries is a family owned and operated water delivery supplier who has been serving New England for the past 20 years. Their 5-rating reviews were not achieved accidently.

Once you’ve got the water level where it needs to be, perform a second cleaning with your skimmer. Clean leaves, twigs and debris from the pool’s bottom by using a wall and floor brush. Brush of algae from the pool vacuum and test for suction.

Test the Waters Before You Jump!

Before you leap, you will want to treat the water and turn on your filter and run it for up to 24 hours. This will mix up the old and new water before testing (remember to use new testing strips and not expired ones). If after performing your tests, all systems are GO . . .  dive in and start enjoying the hot summer days!
